Throwers Elbow

The Injury: Baseball players and other throwing athletes subject their elbows to tremendous stress. The throwing motion causes compression of the outside structures of the elbow and tension on the inside structures. Over time the compression leads to bone spurs and chips and the tension leads to stretching of the ligaments. In severe cases, loose fragments (bodies) may form and need to be removed. If the ligaments stretch beyond a certain point, they may need to be tightened or reconstructed.
